PCB to raise Pak-India series matter in ICC meeting

SportsPCB to raise Pak-India series matter in ICC meeting

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will be picking up the Pakistan-India cricket series matter in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Board meeting to be held in Dubai on February 4.

According to details, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between both the countries to play as many as six series in the time span of eight years however, the first series of the agreement was due to be played last year which was badly affected by Indian extremism.

Earlier, the fanatics of Hindu extremist party Shiv Sena launched a full-fledged attack on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for going ahead with the India-Pakistan bilateral series.

PCB has now finally decided to raise the issue at international level while in case of not getting positive response, it may withdraw from supporting Big Three that includes India, Australia and England.

However the other key issues on the agenda of the ICC meetings include review of the constitutional amendments, and structure and scheduling of bilateral cricket.

The constitutional amendments, which were carried out in 2014, gave executive powers to the Big Three. ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar has already stated that he does not agree with the consolidation of power in the hands of just three member nations.

Besides, cricket’s potential participation in the Olympics and Commonwealth Games will also be discussed. An update on the World Twenty-20 in India in March-April, including playing conditions and prize money, will be also on the table along with the composition of the ICC Cricket Committee.
