Pakistan’s single day COVID vaccination crosses 1.5 million for first time

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The single day COVID vaccination crossed one and a half million in Pakistan for the first time on August 31 as yesterday 1.59 million vaccinations were carried out throughout the Country.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said that both the first dose and the second dose vaccinations on August 31 were the highest ever with 1,071,000 and 519,000 respectively

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said that 1,590,309 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the Country on Tuesday.

So far, a total of 56,768,446 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Country.

Asad Umar further said that 35% of the national eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.

The minister told that 69% eligible population of Islamabad has received at least one dose, 51% population in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), 39% in Gilgit-Baltistan, 37% in Punjab, 35% in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 32% in Sindh, and 12% in Balochistan.

The federal minister said that we had set a minimum target of 40% of 18 plus population being partially vaccinated by the end of August 2021 for 24 large cities.

Out of these 20 cities met the target while Hyderabad, Mardan, Nowshera and Quetta missed the target, he added.

Meanwhile, 101 more COVID patients died and 3,559 new infections at a positivity ratio of 6.63% were reported across the Country in the last 24 hours.
