THE HAGUE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan’s friends must acknowledge its sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
In a meeting with French President Francois Hollande on the side lines of the third Nuclear Security Summit at The Hague, the prime minister said that Pakistan economy suffered heavily and now it is the responsibility of the world nations to pay back in terms of enhanced cooperation in trade and economy.
The prime minister said that Pakistan attaches special importance to its relations with France and that hopes these relations will continue to improve in all fields.
The French president said that his country acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in the war against terrorism. He also appreciated Pakistan’s initiative to normalize its relations with India. He also commended economic reforms being undertaken by the Pakistan government.
Sharif, who is in The Hague to attend the two-day Nuclear Security Summit, also met US President Barrack Obama, Chinese President XI Jinping and Turkish President Abdullah Gul and discussed ways to promote bilateral relations on the sidelines of the summit.
The two-day Nuclear Security Summit began in The Hague on Monday, aimed at promoting nuclear security through voluntary national actions and international cooperation.
The summit is being attended by 58 world leaders including US president, Chinese president, German Chancellor Angela Mekel.
