ISLAMABAD: Professor Ibrahim Khan, a key member of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) negotiating committee, has called for implementing Islamic system in the country as laid down in the constitution, saying that the constitution of the country is in accordance with the Holy Quran and Sunnah.
His statement came after the TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid in a press statement from an undisclosed location said that the government wanted the Taliban to accept the constitution of Pakistan through dialogue. He said that this constitution did not have a single Islamic clause in it.
Ibrahim said that top religious and political leaders had worked hard to make the 1973 constitution in line with the Islamic teachings.
The TTP negotiating committee member said that the committee would convince the Taliban to accept the constitution after its implementation in the letter and spirit. Moreover, he said that those who violated the constitution should be punished.
