PakistanPakistani soldier injured in Afghan forces unprovoked firing

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Afghan security forces on Sunday night resorted to unprovoked firing on Pakistani side at Torkham gate which caused injury to a Pakistani soldier.

“Pakistani security forces responded to Afghan firing effectively,” the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.

The ISPR said that the firing incident took place at about 2120 hours tonight (Sunday).

It may be mentioned that Torkham is the most frequented crossing point at Pak-Afghan border and recently even most of the terrorists have been found using this gate for entry. In order to check movement of terrorists through Torkham, Pakistan is constructing a gate on own side of the border as a necessity to check unwanted and illegal movement.

Pakistan asks Afghan govt to investigate firing incident at border

Meanwhile, Pakistan expressed its deep concerns over the reports of unprovoked firing incident at the Afghan border, expecting the Afghan government to immediately investigate into the matter.

“The Government of Pakistan expressed its deep concerns about the security of Pakistani soldiers near the border, in relation to the reports of unprovoked firing by Afghanistan’s security forces on Sunday,” said a statement issued on Sunday by a PM Office spokesman.

“We consider these unprovoked attacks unhelpful in Pak-Afghan relations and expect from the Afghan government to investigate this incident immediately,” the statement added.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
