ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office said on Thursday that Pakistan wants to become member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), a multinational body concerned with reducing nuclear proliferation.

In his weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, the Foreign Office Spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said that Pakistan is committed to the goals of nuclear supplier group.

The spokesman said that Pakistan condemns desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Israeli violence against peaceful worshippers. He reiterated Pakistan’s stand for an independent Palestinian state comprising pre-1967 border with Al-Quds as its capital.

Nawaz Sharif to address UN General Assembly on September 30

Qazi Khalilullah said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly on September 30.

The foreign office said that Pakistan stands for reforms in the United Nations with consensus of all member states but opposed to the addition of new permanent members to the UN Security Council.

Pakistan urges India to respect ceasefire agreement

In addition, he said that Pakistan urges India to honour commitment with regard to observance of ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) and working boundary.

The spokesman said that there was disconnect between what we are told by the Indian side and the ground reality.

Measures being discussed to keep Pak-Afghan border peaceful

Qazi Khalilullah said that Pakistan and Afghanistan are discussing measures to keep the border peaceful.

Moreover, he said that Pakistan supports Afghan reconciliation process and hopes Afghan Taliban will renounce violence and return to the negotiating table.
