ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that Pakistan wanted to further expand its ties with the United States but for this Pakistan’s point of view and sovereignty be considered at all levels.

“We have reservations on United States policy for stopping funding to Pakistan for F-16 planes. In spite of this, all issues between Pakistan and US be resolved through dialogue,” the minister while talking to the US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Olson in Islamabad on Thursday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed overall security situation of the region especially with reference to Afghanistan. The US ambassador in Pakistan David Hale was also present in the meeting.

The minister further said that stable and peaceful Afghanistan is not only in favour of Pakistan but the entire region.

“The only solution to Afghanistan issue is dialogue,” Nisar said.

In his remarks on the occasion, Richard Olson said that the United States appreciates efforts and role of Pakistan for durable peace in Afghanistan.

The US representative said that in spite of some issues, the US government gave importance to its relations with Pakistan and wanted to further expand existing ties.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
