KABUL, Afghanistan: The Afghan Interior Minister Noorulhaq Olomi has alleged that the current rift within the Taliban is as a result of Pakistan’s interference.

The rift among the Taliban ranks over the new leadership was created after the death of Mullah Omar was confirmed in July, though Mullah Akhtar Mansour eventually came out as the new group leader buy yet leadership crises continued.

Olomi said that Pakistan had tried to enforce its choice of Taliban leader on the group and that it is exploiting the insurgents for its own purposes.

“The intervention among Taliban’s new leadership is because of Pakistan intervention, because Pakistan statesmen want those people to be Taliban’s leader so that Pakistan can exploit them for their own purpose in the future and act on Pakistan’s order,” Olomi said while visiting families of martyred police officers, according to TOLO news.

The interior minister said that he believes that solving the current issues in Afghanistan through war is difficult and emphasized that apart from fighting insurgents, the government is keeping the doors open for peace negotiations.

“Maybe we could not reach peace through war but beside war continuation against the terrorists we will keep open doors of peace negotiations so those who are in favor of peace and the constitution of Afghanistan can join the government,” he said.

The Afghan officials have repeatedly accused Pakistan of supporting the Taliban and of launching deadly attacks against Afghanistan.

The Afghan news channel said that it is believed Afghanistan will soon appeal to the ongoing session of the United Nations General Assembly to intervene against Pakistan’s premier spy agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
