ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is organizing a Ski Camp at Malam Jabba, Swat Valley on 17th March 2013 with a view to promote winter tourism in Swat Valley. Mir Shahjahan Khetran, Managing Director PTDC will be the Chief Guest.
Malam Jabba is located 45 kilometres from Swat district’s main town Mingora and is 9,000 feet above sea level. It has historically been of a centre for skiers and skiing enthusiasts. In 1988, the Austrian government had installed chair lifts and a hotel for tourists and skiers. The resort soon became a hub for not only tourists from across the country but also from all over the world. The Malam Jabba Ski Resort has a ski slope of about 800m with the highest point of the slope 2804m (9,200ft) above sea level established as joint venture of the Pakistan government and its Austrian counterpart.
In this connection, the PTDC management headed by Managing Director, Mir Shahjahan Khetran arrange a three-day trip of media team to Malam Jabba via Saidu Sharif on Saturday.
During three-day stay in Saidu Sharif and Malam Jabba, the MD, PTDC will also give a briefing to journalists about tourist activities initiated by PTDC for promotion of tourism in the country. He told that 80 percent normalcy has returned in Swat due to operation by the Pakistan Army over the last two years and the tourists as well as people have started giving positive response.
