TASHKENT, Uzbekistan: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan will further boost its ties with the regional partners and play its role in regional peace after becoming full member of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

In his address at the SCO summit held in Tajik Capital Tashkent on Friday, the president thanked the member countries for extending their support for Pakistan`s membership.

The president while expressing pleasure on membership of the SCO said that Pakistan believes the organization will make joint efforts towards peace and stability of the region.

President Mamnoon said that peace and stability is inevitable for economic progress and prosperity in the region.

Mamnoon Hussain said that Pakistan offers trade and telecommunication connectivity within and across the region.

Furthermore, he said that Pakistan will continue its efforts against terrorism. He said that the anti-terror operation Zarb-e-Azb vigorously started by the security forces reflects Pakistan`s firm resolve against this menace.

Talking about the $46 billion China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC), the president said that work on the mega project is in full swing and the project will provide the SCO member countries access to South Asia and Arabian Sea.

The president said that the CPEC will play an effective role in furthering peace and fraternity in the region.
