ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Saturday strongly condemned the terrorist attack at the Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Pathankot in which many precious lives were lost.

Earlier in the morning, a group of seven unknown terrorists in army uniforms attacked the IAF base in Indian Punjab’s Pathankot.

In a statement issued in Islamabad, the Foreign Office extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of India and the bereaved families.

It also wished the wounded speedy and full recovery.

The statement said that building on the goodwill created during the recent high level contacts between the two countries, Pakistan remains committed to partner with India as well as other countries in the region to completely eradicate the menace of terrorism afflicting our region.

The Indian media reports said that four terrorists and as many security forces personal were killed in exchange of fire between the two sides. In addition, four to five Indian security forces personnel also got injuries and were shifted to hospital.

However, the operation was still continuing by the security forces to kill or apprehend the remaining terrorists in the IAF base.

The terror attack was carried out near the Pakistan border and according to some Indian security officials, it was financed or supported by Pakistani’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) but such claims have not been verified yet.
