Pakistan says it is aware of India's plans to sabotage CPEC

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office said on Thursday that Pakistan is aware of Indian alleged plans to sabotage the $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) but the two friendly countries are committed to execute the project.

“I wish to reiterate our commitment to the realization of Pak-China Economic Corridor projects, which will benefit the entire region,” the Foreign Office Spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said at his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday.

The spokesman further said that a statement by the Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on sponsoring terrorism should be a matter of concern not only for Pakistan but the entire world.

“We will take all appropriate measures that are required to protect Pakistan’s national interest,” Qazi Khalilullah said.

The foreign office spokesman said that Pakistan is the biggest victim of terrorism and has suffered more than any other country in the world.

“We have lost more than sixty thousand lives of our citizens and suffered economic losses of more than US$ 100 billion,” he said.

“Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”

In reply to a question about the IT Company Axact fake degrees scam, the spokesman said that comprehensive investigations are going on into Axact and the Federally Investigation Agency (FIA) team’s visit to the US embassy yesterday was in that context.

Qazi Khalilullah said that the ministry of interior has asked for cooperation of US authorities in this regard.
