Pakistan, Saudi Arabia to boost cooperation in diverse fields

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met the Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud in Riyadh on Wednesday to discuss overall security situation in the region and the international issues.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in various sectors including security, energy, trade, investment and infrastructure between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

On this occasion, the prime minister said that terrorism and extremism are common enemies of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He said that relationships between the two countries are not limited to political level, rather people of the two countries also enjoy cordial relations.

The prime minister said that both the countries are tide in the bondage of common religion and historic values. He expressed hope that the relations between the two countries would reach to its climax during the era of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz.

Nawaz Sharif also thanked the Saudi government for supporting Pakistan in every critical moment.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister accompanied by a high-level delegation reached Saudi Arabia for a three-day official visit on the invitation of the Saudi King.

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia tied in strong relationship: Rasheed

In a statement, the federal information minister Pervaiz Rasheed said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are tied in a relationship of love and respect.

The information minister said that the government and the people of Pakistan have great love and respect for their Saudi brethren.

The minister thanked the Saudi leadership for expressing love and sincerity with Pakistan.

Chief of the Air Staff expressed his gratitude for the honour of receiving the Bahrain Medal - First Class. On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
