COLOMBO: Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka can play a key role in dealing with the challengers confronting the region.

During a three-day visit to Sri Lanka, army chief Gen. Kayani attended the passing out parade of Sri Lankan Military Academy as a chief guest.

General Kayani reviewed the parade and addressed the cadets.

The army chief said that Pakistan always stood by and wholeheartedly supported your great nation and its armed forces, both in moral as well as material realm during three decades of conflict and the ensuing rebuilding phase.

“Sri Lanka and Pakistan are both peace loving countries and regardless of internal and external challenges, our armed forces persistently seek peace within the region and beyond,” he said.
