Islamabad: Pakistan out of Russian military hardware embargo, getting gunships helicopter Mi-25.

“Russia has lifted an embargo from supplies of weapons and military hardware to Pakistan and is negotiating the delivery of several helicopter gunships Mil Mi-25 to the country”, said head of Russian state-run technologies corporation Rostec Sergey Chemezov on Monday.

“The decision was taken and we are negotiating the delivery of helicopters,” he said.

The Mi-24P (called as Mi-25 also)  is in service with Russia, Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Bulgaria, Cuba, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Iraq, the Ivory Coast, Libya, Mozambique, Nicaragua, North Korea, Peru, Poland, Vietnam and South Yemen. Latest version, Mi-24P is armed with anti-tank missile systems for the engagement of moving armoured targets, weapon emplacements and slow-moving air targets. All versions retain the troop transport capability.
