BEIJING, China: The Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif has said that Pakistani nation rejects and denounces terrorism and extremism in all its forms and manifestation.
“As a nation, our message and intent is very clear. We reject and denounce terrorism and extremism in all its forms and manifestations,” Asif said while addressing the 6th Xiangshan Forum in Beijing.
“Zarb-e-Azb along with different operation conducted from time to time by our Armed Forces is testament to the fact that people of Pakistan reject terrorism.”
The Xiangshan From established in 2006 is a platform for security and defence dialogues while this year it is discussing security trends in Asia-Pacific Region, security concepts in Asia, maritime security and anti-terrorism.
The defence minister at the forum shared Pakistan’s perspective on the issue of “Regional terrorism: Roots and Solutions.”
The minister said that terrorism has a local, regional as well as trans-regional impact and outreach.
“Today, due to globalization, we witness spillover effects of conflicts from neighbours to regions and beyond,” he said.
Khawaja Asif also highlighted the national action plan devised by the government of Pakistan to counter terrorism.
Moreover, he also emphasized the importance of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project which would transform the region’s economy and dovetail perfectly with the strategy of developing and connecting South and Central Asian Regions of the world.
The minister expressed hope that such interactions at the Xiangshan Forum will help the world community in evolving joint strategies to overcome common threat and security problems emanating from terrorism.
