Pakistan regrets increased ceasefire violations by India

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The prime minister’s adviser on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that India has increased its ceasefire violations along the Working Boundary which is regrettable.

Talking to a private TV channel, the adviser said that it was expected that after elections in occupied Kashmir, there would be improvement in Pakistan-India relations but it did not happen.

Sartaj Aziz said that all issues between Pakistan and India can be resolved through dialogue.

The adviser also noted that it was India which suspended foreign secretary-level talks without any reason.

Moreover, he said that India should have welcomed the operation of Pakistan Army in North Waziristan against terrorists.

On Monday, four persons including a woman and an 18-year-old boy were killed when the Indian border security forces (BSF) again resorted to indiscriminate firing and shelling along the Working Boundary in Sialkot’s Zafarwal and Shakargarh sectors, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ISPR said that it was the sixth time since December 31, the Indian troops violated the ceasefire.

Meanwhile, the United States also expressed concern over rising tension and exchange of firing along the Working Boundary between Pakistan and India and urged both nuclear-armed countries to resume the dialogue process.

“We certainly remain concerned and watch over tensions along the border, and we encourage dialogue between the countries,” the State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said at a news briefing in Washington.
