Pakistan records 5.44% COVID positivity ratio as 1,877 more infections emerged

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The national COVID positivity rate in Pakistan on January 10 stood at 5.44% as out of 34,524 tested for Coronavirus, 1,877 were found positive, as per the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC).

In the last 24 hours, 32 COVID patients succumbed to the disease including 12 each in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), 6 in Sindh, and 2 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

In total, 504,293 COVID-19 Cases have been detected so far across Pakistan.

Of them, 226,338 Cases have been recorded in Sindh, 145,508 in Punjab, 61,424 in KPK, 39,242 in ICT, 18,412 in Balochistan, 8,489 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and 4,880 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Similarly, out of 10,676 deaths recorded so far across Pakistan, 4,272 have occurred in Punjab, 3,699 in Sindh, 1,740 in KPK, 441 in ICT, 235 in AJK, 188 in Balochistan, and 101 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

To date, 458,371 people suffering from Coronavirus have now been recovered across Pakistan with a recovery ratio of 90.9%.

As of January 11, 35,246 people are yet battling with COVID-19 in the Country.

Meanwhile, in a series of tweets on Monday, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives and the Chairman NCOC Asad Umar has urged the people to follow precautionary measures in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Referring to the devastation unfolding in the US and the UK due to the pandemic, Asad Umar said that we will have to play our role and do the right things to save lives and livelihoods.
