ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan would not allow the misuse of its territory against any country in accordance with the government’s policy.     

Talking to a private news channel, he said after Pathankot incident in India, Pakistan took immediate action and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif constituted an investigation committee.

The civil and military leadership were on the same page in this matter, he added.

The minister said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his recent visit to Pakistan had expressed his desire for a new beginning of Pak-India dialogue. But after Pathankot incident the dialogue process had slowed down. It would not be curtailed and the talks would began soon, he added.

Dar said the elimination of terrorism was vital to achieve socio-economic development and stability in the country.

Pakistan wished to move ahead for a comprehensive dialogue with India to resolve all issues and steps were being taken for restoration of dialogue process.

To a question, the finance minister said as a result of continued efforts by the incumbent government, China had announced a historic investment under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Now other countries were also taking interest to invest in Pakistan, he added.

He said that negotiations were underway with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait as both the countries were desired to invest in various sectors in Pakistan.

The minister said that Pak-US Business Forum was looking forward to invest in Pakistan and it had acknowledged the progress made during the last two years in economic and business sectors.

The finance minister said that international community was now praising the economic achievements made by Pakistan.

Ishaq Dar said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, all political parties were being taken on-board on the all national issues.

To a query, he said that maximum relief would be provided to consumers on petroleum products in February and March.

The minister said following the positive economic indicators and achievements, Pakistan would not need any more IMF package which was going to complete by mid 2016.
