Pakistan, Iran agree to enhance coordination at border

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The 8th round of Pakistan-Iran political consultations was held in Islamabad, during which the two countries agreed to ensure effective border controls through enhanced communication and coordination.

The Pakistani side was led by the foreign secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry while the deputy foreign minister Ibrahim Rahimpour headed the Iranian delegation at the talks.

The consultations focused on the entire gamut of bilateral relations including political exchanges, trade and economic cooperation, Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project, energy collaboration, and border security cooperation.

The situation in the region, Afghanistan and Middle East was also discussed.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister also called on the adviser on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz and the special assistant to the prime minister on foreign affairs Tariq Fatemi.

The two sides agreed that the high-level exchanges scheduled over the coming months will help advance the shared goals.
