ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Security Advisers of Pakistan and India Sartaj Aziz and Ajit Doval will meet in New Delhi on August 23 for security talks as a part of efforts to resume the stalled dialogue process between the two arch-rivals.

The talks will be held as per agreement reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian Counterpart Narendra Modi in the Russian City of Ufa on July 10.

It was agreed that a meeting between the National Security Advisers of both the neighboring countries in New Delhi to discuss all issues connected to terrorism

“Although the security talks are not the revival of the Composite Dialogue, the meeting would be ‘ice-breaking’ as we will hold discussions on some important issues,” Sartaj Aziz said.

“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif believes that dialogue is the only option to peacefully resolve issues,” the advisor added.

In his weekly media briefing in Islamabad on August 6, the Foreign Office Spokesman Qazi Khalilullah told that India has proposed meeting of the National Security Advisors of the two countries in New Delhi on August 23-24, 2015.

“These dates are under consideration of our Government. It is premature to talk about the agenda of the meeting which will be prepared in due course,” the spokesman said.
