RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Pakistani and Indian armies continue to engage in exchange of fire at the Line of Control (LoC) as the bilateral ties between the two nuclear-armed nations have worsened.

However, there are no reports of casualties on either sides yet.

The latest incidents of exchange of fire took places on Monday at Nezapir and Kailer sectors of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ISPR said that Pakistani troops were befittingly responding to Indian unprovoked firing.

“After Iftikharbad, Nezapir now Indian resort to unprovoked firing in Kailer sector this afternoon. Pakistani troops befittingly responding to Indian firing,” said a statement issued by the ISPR.

Earlier in the morning, the Indian troops once again resorted to unprovoked shelling across the LoC at Iftikharabad sector in Kashmir. However, befitting response from Pakistan army silenced the Indian guns.

“Indian troops yet again resorted to unprovoked firing in Iftikharabad sector,” the ISPR said adding that “Pakistani troops befittingly responded”.

The Pak-India relations further deteriorated after New Delhi accused Islamabad of being behind the attack on Indian military base in Uri town of Occupied Kashmir in which 18 Indian military personnel were killed. However, Pakistan rejected such accusations.

On Sunday night, suspected militants again opened fire on an Indian army camp in Baramulla town of Jammu Kashmir, killing at least one trooper of the Border Security Force (BSF) and injuring another.
