ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan in collaboration with China will establish state-of-the-art technical & vocational institutes at strategic nodes along with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route.

Talking to the state-run news agency, the Executive Director National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema said that China to boost cooperation with Pakistan in the technical & vocational sector and establish TVET institutes at Gilgit, Mansehra, Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad, Quetta and Gawadar .

NAVTTC, he said, as an advisory body to the federal government on TVET has taken vital initiatives to introduce reforms in the current technical and vocational system of Pakistan.

Cheema said that NAVTTC has initiated some new steps including establishment of Job Placement Center and introducing Competency Based Training throughout the country.

The CPEC would open new vistas of prosperity and development and offer enormous employment opportunities for the people of Pakistan, he added.

ED NAVTTC said that CPEC is a living reflection of a strong Pak-China bond and it will serve geo-strategic interests of both the countries.

Both the countries should enhance their collaboration to reboot the TVET system in Pakistan, he urged.

He said that skilled youth is the most powerful tool for poverty alleviation and can play an important role in the socio-economic development of the country.

China extended its full cooperation in starting a teacher’s training program, establishment of a research center at Islamabad, and upgrading the existing labs/equipment and institutes of Pakistan, he informed.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
