PM Imran Khan expresses solidarity with India battling with COVID-19 havoc

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed solidarity with the people of India as they battle a dangerous wave of COVID-19.

In a statement on Saturday, the prime minister said that our prayers for a speedy recovery go to all those suffering from the pandemic in our neighbourhood and the world.

“We must fight this global challenge confronting humanity together,” Imran Khan said.

For the third consecutive day on April 23, India recorded over 300,000 fresh infections.

In the last 24 hours, India recorded 346,786 COVID-19 Cases while 2,624 infected patients succumbed to the disease.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who is currently on an official tour to Turkey, also expressed support to the people of India wherein the COVID-19 crisis has aggravated.

“We express our support to the people of India in the wake of the current wave of COVID-19 infections that has hit our region hard,” Qureshi said in a statement on Twitter.

“On behalf of the people of Pakistan, I extend our heartfelt sympathies to the affected families in India,” he added.

The foreign minister said that COVID-19 is yet another reminder that humanitarian issues require responses beyond political consideration.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan continues to work with SAARC Countries to foster cooperation to tackle the pandemic.

Separately, the Federal Minister for information & Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain also said that in these testing times, their prayers are with the Citizens of India. He prayed that Allah have mercy on all of us, and we witness the end of this catastrophe.

India has so far recorded a total of 16,610,481 Coronavirus Cases while 189,549 people have died of the infection.

The Officials across northern and western India including the Capital New Delhi have warned that most hospitals are full of patients and running out of oxygen.
