PakistanPakistan expresses concerns over growing incidents of hate crime against Muslims

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Thursday expressed concern over growing incidents of hate crime following the incident of Paris attacks, saying terrorism had nothing to do with Islam.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah, in his weekly press briefing here at the Foreign Office, said Muslims should not be targeted and isolated in the campaign against terrorism.

He said Pakistan had strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Paris. Islam, he added, was a religion of peace and preaches brotherhood.

Replying to a question about turning down military jet of Russia by Turkey, the spokesperson said tension between Ankara and Moscow should be eased through peaceful negotiations.

Answering another question, he said, “Pakistan encourages contacts with Afghanistan at all levels.”

He said Pakistan wanted development, peace and security in Afghanistan and was extending all-out support and cooperation to the neighbouring country in that regard.

To a question on Pak-India ties, the spokesperson said Pakistan was ready to discuss all outstanding issues, including Kashmir, with India without attaching any pre-conditions.

He said the Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India should be resolved according to the UN resolutions and wishes of Kashmiri people.
