ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan army has conducted an operation against the militants inside Afghanistan, the sources claim; however, the claim has not been verified yet and ISPR has denied any such attack.
The sources said that the Pakistan’s military has carried out an action against the Taliban inside the Afghan territory with the support of Afghan forces but it hasn’t disclosed the information to media yet.
The development came two days after the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited Kabul and met the Afghan officials including President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.
During the visit he undertook on December 17, the army chief shared classified intelligence details with the Afghan officials and revealed to them that the mastermind behind the Peshawar attack had been giving directives to the perpetrators of the attack from Afghanistan.
The Afghan president assured the army chief that the Afghan soil will not be allowed for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
The COAS’s visit followed a deadly terror attack on an army public school in
Peshawar that claimed lives of 148 persons mostly innocent children.
The media reports said that the army chief during his visit to Kabul also sought handover of the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Chief Mullah Fazalullah who is wanted for terrorism cases in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the prime minister’s adviser on foreign affairs and national security Sartaj Aziz said while talking to media in Islamabad on Saturday that Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to carry out coordinated actions against terrorists in their respective areas.
“The two countries have also agreed not to let anyone use their soil against each other,” the adviser said.
