Pakistan, Afghanistan sigh MoU to enhance intelligence sharing

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Pakistani and the Afghan intelligence agencies to promote cooperating in fight against terrorism.

In his twitter message the Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa said that the MoU was signed between the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) of Afghanistan late on Monday.

The DG ISPR said that the MoU includes intelligence sharing and coordinated intelligence operations on respective sides of both the countries.

On May 12, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif accompanied by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif and other officials paid a one-day visit to Kabul, and held talks with the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.

During the meeting, both the sides agreed to work together to stamp out terrorism to ensure peace and stability in the region.

The two sides expressed resolve to root out terrorism through their firm determination and by adopting a comprehensive and coordinated strategy. They also agreed to the point that enemy of one country will be treated as enemy of the two countries.
