KABUL, Afghanistan: Pakistan and Afghanistan have vowed not to allow use of their respective territories against each other.

It came when the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited Kabul on Tuesday and held meetings with the Afghan civilian leadership.

On his twitter account, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa wrote that the army chief held a meeting with the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai in Kabul.

During the meeting, both sides appreciated improvement in bilateral relations and expressed resolve to fight terrorists across the border.

The two sides also vowed not to allow their territories to be used against each other.

The COAS also met with the Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah in Kabul who acknowledged the overall positive trajectory in bilateral relations.

The army chief and the Afghan chief executive also exchanged views on improving intelligence sharing and coordination on border.

Earlier in the day, General Raheel Sharif accompanied by a high-level military delegation including the Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt General Rizwan Akhtar reached Kabul for a one-day official visit.

In a statement, the ISPR said that the army chief would hold meetings with military and political leadership of Afghanistan.
