ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rasheed on Friday told the Senate that a proposal to lay Railway line between Pakistan and China from Havelian to Khunjrab was under consideration.

Replaying to a question on behalf of Minister Railways in the Senate, he said that the length of the proposed link is approximately 682 kilometers.

The minister informed that it was a part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and initially estimated cost of the project was $ 10.500 billions.

The actual cost of the project, he said, would be worked out after detailed feasibility study and design of the project.

The project is likely to be commenced after finalization of the feasibility study and approval of the PC-1, he added.

He told that the proposed Railway line will touch Abbottabad, Mansehra, Batagram, Basham, Dasu, Chilas, Gilgit and Hunza as per route studied at pre-feasibility stage in 2007/2008.
