ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah said on Wednesday that the opposition will not become part of any conspiracy for mid-term elections.
Speaking of the floor of the National Assembly on Wednesday, the Pakistan People Party (PPP) senor leader said that we do not want mid-term elections as country is already facing multiple challenges including terrorism and we will support government on all issues.
Meanwhile, the PPP and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers staged walkout from the House over the remarks made by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on the issue of thumb verification.
In his speech‚ the interior minister had stated that one opposition party was staging “Tamasha” (drama) on the roads on the issue of thumb verification.
Talking to media representatives outside the parliament, Khursheed Shah called the word, used by the interior minister, as ‘non-parliamentary’.
The leader of the opposition said they would continue to boycott the proceedings of the House until the Interior Minister withdrew his statement.
The PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi also criticized the statement issued by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
