PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Oil Tankers Owners Association (POTOA) has threatened Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan that the association will pursue legal action against him if his government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province does not restore NATO supply to Afghanistan within 72 hours.

The association also warned that they will hold countrywide sit-in protests and suspend oil supplies to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if their demand is not met within the given time.

In a statement, the POTOA vice-president Shams Shahwani said the blockage of NATO supply routes is causing immense financial losses to oil tanker owners.

Meanwhile, the PTI and its allied parties’ sit-in protest to block NATO supply going through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Afghanistan till a complete halt to the US drone attacks on Pakistan’s territory entered eighth consecutive day today.

The PTI and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) activists have set-up a protest camp at Ring Road near Hayatabad’s toll plaza area in Peshawar. They are checking the documents of the containers and block transportation of any container if it is found carrying NATO supply.

The protest by the PTI and its allied parties in the provincial government started after a US drone had carried out a strike in the Tal area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district, causing several causalities on November 21.

Afterwards, the PTI had also lodged an First Information Report (FIR) against Hangu drone attack and sought nomination of US Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) director and a man whom the party claimed was the agency’s station chief in Pakistan as murder suspects in the attack.
