ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed has said that no one will be allowed to make the ongoing Karachi operation controversial that is aimed at ridding the city of criminals, target killers and extortionists.
His remarks come when the tension between the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)-led Singh government and the security forces continues to be building up for some time over the Karachi operation.
On Tuesday, the PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari lashed out at the military establishment for overstepping its domain during the operation. He warned that the military must stop the character assassination of his party, otherwise he would expose the misdeeds of many generals.
While the next day, in a letter to Rangers Director General Major General Bilal Akbar, the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah accused the paramilitary force in Sindh of acting beyond its mandate and termed its current role as unacceptable.
In an interview with a private TV news channel last night, the information minister said that security institutions were rendering sacrifices to make the situation conducive in the metropolitan.
The minister said that the government is moving in the right direction and required results of the operation will be completely achieved by the grace of Allah Almighty.
