No amendment made in MoU regarding judicial commission: Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal government has said that no amendment has been made in memorandum of understanding (MoU) agreed with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on March 20 regarding the formation of a judicial commission to probe 2013 election rigging.

In an interview with a private television, the federal minister for finance Ishaq Dar said that not a single comma or full stop has been amended except those which had been agreed with the PTI. He said that the government is firm on the agreed MoU.

The finance minister said that the PTI Secretary General Jahangir Tareen has been in his contact. He urged the PTI Chairman Imran Khan not to believe in gossips.

On March 20, the ruling Pakistan Muslim league-League (PML-N) agreed to form the long-awaited judicial commission on the PTI’s request to probe irregularities and alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections.

Imran warns of protest if govt backtracks on judicial commission agreement

Earlier in the day, the PTI chairman Imran Khan while talking to media representatives in Lahore claimed that the PML-N government was amending the MoU.

Imran Khan also categorically stated that his party will take to the streets if the PML-N backtracks on the agreement to form judicial commission.

The PTI chief said that his party had been in talks with the PML-N concerning the judicial commission for at least three months and all issues on the subject had been finalised, adding that yesterday that PTI came to know that the PML-N now wants to make changes to the MoU.

Moreover, he said that his party has shown as much flexibility as possible and if the PML-N backtracks it means that they are scared of the judicial commission and what results it will produce.
