ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that all the political parties including the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) should support Rangers in Karachi operation for national interest.
The minister made these remarks when a delegation of the MQM called on him in Islamabad on Tuesday and conveyed their reservations on the Karachi operation by Rangers and police.
The MQM delegation was led by Dr Farooq Sattar and also comprising Kunwar Naveed Jamil, Barrister Saif and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed prevailing situation in Sindh particularly operation in Karachi.
The interior minister said that the ongoing Karachi operation is according to the rules & laws and all the political parties should support Rangers for national interest.
Nisar assured the delegation that the Karachi operation is not against the MQM or any other political party but purely against the professional criminals.
“Political forces must back the operation in the greater national interest,” he said.
Nisar further said that the aim of Karachi operation is to restore peace and to purge the city from criminals.
“Peace in Karachi is our collective responsibility and in the national interest,” he added.
