Nisar says govt sincere in peace talks with Taliban

ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Friday that the government is sincere in the dialogue process with the Taliban and there is no delay on its part.

Talking to media in Islamabad on Friday, the interior minister said that no previous government made such an effort in the past.

The interior minister said that it was decided during the last meeting with the Taliban negotiating team that the next meeting should be decisive and both sides’ agenda and demands should be on the table.

Nisar said that date for the next meeting was to be fixed by the other side. However, there is no hitch from the government or military side.

To a question, the interior minister said that non-combatant Taliban prisoners were released in consultation with military authorities.

The minister emphatically stated that there has never been any deadlock in the talks process.
