Nisar not holding any talks with Imran: Interior ministry

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Interior ministry on Saturday refuted the media reports about secret meeting between the federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in Islamabad.

In a statement on Saturday, the spokesman of the ministry said that interior minister is not holding any talks with Imran Khan regarding his party’s planned Azadi march on August 14 to register its protest against alleged widespread rigging in the general elections held in May last year.

The ministry spokesman said that the reports in this respect are incorrect.

Earlier, the media citing sources reported that the interior minister held a meeting with the PTI chairman at his Bani Gala residence and asked him to postpone the Independence Day long march.

Azadi march: Imran asks senior PTI leaders to be prepared for arrests

Meanwhile, the PTI Chairman Imran Khan has asked his party to be prepared in case the government arrests senior PTI leaders ahead of the Azadi march in Islamabad.

It came after Imran Khan held a meeting with senior leaders of the party’s Punjab chapter including PTI Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry, senior leader Javed Hashmi and Naeemul Haq.

Imran Khan also issued instructions to his party workers to finalize preparations for his planned Azadi march in Islamabad.
