Nisar asks Taliban to identify groups responsible for Islamabad attack

ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali khan said on Monday that he has sent a message to the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) committee that mere declaration that the Taliban had nothing to do with the Islamabad attack was not enough and they should condemn it and identify the groups responsible for the heinous crime.

In his address on the floor of the National Assembly in Islamabad on Monday, the interior minister said that security agencies picked up seven suspects a few days back from the neighbourhood of the Islamabad and one view is that those involved in the court attack might be linked to them.

The interior minister said that another suspicion is that they might be linked to TTP or members of the terrorist group opposed to the dialogue process.

Nisar said that there is no magic solution to the problem but the federal government is working on short and long term measures to address the challenge of terrorism.

Earlier, the leader of the opposition in the house Syed Khurshid Shah regretted that the attack came in the wake of announcement of ceasefire and that too on the seat of justice.

The opposition leader said that the Taliban should clearly condemn‚ disown and identify the groups involved in such heinous activities. He said that the government should come out with a clear strategy to tackle the menace of terrorism and the opposition would extend all possible support.
