PakistanNew political setup likely to emerge soon in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: A new political setup is likely to emerge in the restive Province of Balochistan soon as the main political parties including Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F (JUI-F) which hold representation in the provincial legislative body have reached an understanding for a new setup in the province, sources privy to the development said.

“A new political setup is likely to be installed in the province soon and it has been conveyed to the president,” said sources in the Presidency, where Balochistan Governor Zulfiqar Magsi called on President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday.

First governor’s rule would be lifted and then a session of the provincial assembly would be summoned to elect a new chief minister as Nawab Aslam Raisani had already resigned, sources said.

The sources said PPP, PML-Q and JUI-F would decide the new leader of the house. Since JUI-F had decided to sit on opposition benches, therefore, PML-Q would most probably get the chief minister’s slot.

“We enjoy a majority of 21 members in a house of 65 and it is out right to have our own chief minister,” PML-Q information secretary Kamil Ali Agha said, adding that no government could be formed in the province without consent of the Q-League.
