NCOC announces stricter restrictions amid spike in COVID Cases

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) Session was held in Islamabad on Wednesday morning with the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar in the Chair.

The National Coordinator Major General Muhammad Zafar Iqbal Co-chaired the NCOC meeting.

The forum took a detailed review of the current COVID situation in the Country and corresponding Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions (NPIs).

After a deliberate and consultative process with federating units, the forum agreed on the implementation of the undermentioned NPIs/decisions.

These decisions will be implemented from January 20, 31, 2022 with a review on January 27, 2022 at the NCOC. However, NPIs for the wedding sector will remain effective till February 5, 2022.

Meanwhile, the COVID -19 positivity ratio jumped to 9.48% in the Country as 5,472 new Coronavirus Cases were recorded and 8 patients died in the Country on January 18.
