ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged the political leadership to adopt a consensus stance on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project for the benefit of the country.
In his address at an all parties conference on the CPEC in Islamabad on Thursday, he said the political leaders reserve the right to express their reservations which will be addressed.
However, he said, we should move forward on national matters with one voice and united stance. He said that this will also send a good message to China that the entire Pakistani nation is committed for the economic corridor project.
The prime minister said that the CPEC project will be proved to be a milestone for Pakistan. He said that the investment pouring in from China is unprecedented in the history of Pakistan and credit for this goes to all the political parties.
During the meeting, the Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal briefed the parliamentary leaders about the different routes of economic corridor between Pakistan and China.
It was the second all parties conference convened in Islamabad to take the political leadership into confidence over the route of planned CPEC, a mega project is being dubbed as a fate changer not only for Pakistan but for the entire region.
