SUKKUR, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has vowed that the terrorists and elements pursuing agitation agenda will not be allowed to sabotage government’s development agenda.

In his address at a groundbreaking ceremony of 392-kilometre six-lane Sukkur-Multan portion of M-5 Motorway in Sukkur on Friday, he said that evil designs of the opponents of development will be frustrated and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) present government will continue sincerely and honestly work for the welfare and prosperity of the people.

The prime minister said that transparency is the hallmark of all mega development projects initiated and completed by his government in its all three tenures.

Sharif said that nobody could accuse the government of committing the corruption of even a single penny in development projects. He said that the Transparency International has also issued clean chit to all the projects launched to facilitate the public and generate job opportunities.

The prime minister said that not only in the economic field but his government has also made great efforts to make the country’s defence impregnable. He called that his government conducted nuclear tests to give a strong reply to India’s explosions in 1998.

Nawaz Sharif said that today’s Pakistan is much better than it was three years ago. He said that terrorism incidents have decreased, law and order situation in Balochistan and Karachi has improved and economy strengthened.

Sharif said that Pakistan would be linked with all regional countries including China, Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asian States through a wide network of motorways which will bring progress for the Pakistan. He said that if his previous government was not toppled, Pakistan today would have been a prosperous and stronger nation.

The prime minister reiterated the pledge to eradicate energy crisis in the country during his present tenure. At the same time, the electricity tariff will also be decreased. He said that 30 percent tariff already been reduced and it will be further cut down in the coming days.

On the occasion, the Acting Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Zhao Lijian said that China is funding the construction of this section of motorway.

The acting Chinese envoy said that Sukkur-Multan Motorway will not only create job opportunities and improve wellbeing of local people but also improve transportation infrastructure in the country.
