Nawaz Sharif urges PTI to give up double standards

LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to give up double standards, adding that the federal government does not have any issue to resume dialogue with the PTI.

Talking to media persons on his arrival in London on Tuesday to attend Conference on Afghanistan, the prime minister said that he himself visited the PTI Chairman Imran Khan at his residence in Islamabad few months back and discussed issues open heartedly.

However, he added, said that the politics of lies must come to an end.

The prime minister said that the government is delivering on issues but protesting parties are creating hurdles.

Nawaz Sharif said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) believes in democracy and has always struggled to strengthen democratic norms in the country. He said that new political parties are again sowing the seeds of hatred.

Name of next CEC to be finalized with consensus

The prime minister while talking about the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) said that he told that he held constructive talks with the opposition leader in the national assembly Syed Khursheed Shah.

Sharif said that the name of next CEC will be finalized with consensus.

Overseas Pakistanis to be given right to cast votes in next elections

The Pakistani premier further said that Overseas Pakistanis are asset for the country who always played their constructive role in the development. He said that in next elections, they will be given right to cast their votes.

London Conference on Afghanistan

The prime minister is in the United Kingdom to attend the London Conference on Afghanistan being held on December 4, co-hosted by the governments of the UK and Afghanistan.

The conference will provide a platform for the Afghan government to set out its vision for reform and for the international community to demonstrate enduring solidarity and support for Afghanistan.

On the sidelines of the conference, the prime minister will also hold bilateral meetings with the British Prime Minister David Cameron and the US Secretary of State John Kerry.
