Nawaz Sharif unveils plan D to save country

CHAKWAL, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that D for development is our plan while D for destruction is the plan of the protesting party.

“We have to save the country from those believing in D for destruction,” the prime minister said at an inauguration ceremony for modernization of the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway in Chakwal on Monday.

His remarks were made in reference to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) which has been holding strikes across the country under its ‘Plan C’ since December 8. The PTI led by Imran Khan has also announced to put its ‘Plan D’ into action if the government fails to meet its demands.

The prime minister expressed the resolve that the development process will continue and hurdles being created by the protesting parties cannot stop this process.

Sharif said that when we go to the people in 2018 we have in our record that we have ended load shedding, overcome gas shortage, reduced price hike and unemployment, eliminate terrorism and made the economy strong.

In contrast the protesting parties will go to the polls having record of sit-ins creating hurdles in the way of development, speeches of siege, attack on parliament and abuses to democracy, he added.

Nawaz Sharif said that if hurdles are not created, the development process will gain more momentum and soon the country will see and era of prosperity and development.

Earlier, the Director General Frontier Works Organization (FWO) Major General Muhammad Afzal while giving briefing about the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway renovated project said that the project will be completed with the partnership of FWO and the National Highway Authority (NHA).

The director general FWO said that it will be a major public private partnership project. He said that FWO will look after the M-2 for 20 years.

Major General Afzal said that state of the arts machinery will be used for executing the project and before time completion of the project will be ensured. He said it will be make sure that traffic flow will not be affected during the work on the project.

The director general FWO said that cameras will be installed at every kilometer distance to monitor the traffic on the motorway. He said that a special FM channel will be established on the motorway for guidance of the travellers.

Moreover, he said that fruit trees will be planted on both sides of the motorway.
