ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will pay a one-day visit to Kabul on Tuesday as a part of efforts to further strengthen the positive momentum in bilateral relations with Afghanistan.

His visit will be undertaken at the invitation of the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, the Foreign Office spokesman Khalil Ullah Qazi in a statement issued in Islamabad on Monday.

The Prime Minister’s Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry and senior officials will accompany Nawaz Sharif during the visit.

During his visit, the prime minister will have tête-à-tête with President Ashraf Ghani who will also host a luncheon for Nawaz Sharif.

Sharif will also hold a meeting with the Afghan Chief Executive Dr Abdullah Abdullah and delegation-level talks with the Afghan side.

“The Prime Minister’s visit to Afghanistan would further strengthen the positive momentum in bilateral relations and help intensify common endeavours in the pursuit of durable peace, stability and prosperity in the region,” the foreign office spokesman said.

The visit comes days after a delegation of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led by its Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zaradri visited Kabul to hold meetings with the Afghan leadership.

The PPP delegation held discussions on topics related to Pak-Afghan bilateral relations, efforts for bringing peace in the region and the Afghan reconciliation process during talks with the Afghan leaders.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation.
