ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The 14th meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be held in Zhengzhou, the capital of the central Henan province of China on December 14 and 15.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is likely to lead Pakistan’s delegation to the meeting, Foreign Office sources said here on Thursday.
The SCO meeting will focus on cooperation in economy and trade, transport and people-to-people exchanges.
The most important agenda of the meeting will be to promote regional cooperation and to enhance linkages.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has extended invitations to members states of SCO including Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Masimov, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Temir Sariyev, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda, and First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov to attend the meeting.
Besides SCO member states, government leaders from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Belarus, India, Iran and Mongolia will take part in the meeting as observers.
Representatives from international organizations including the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the Association of South East Asian Nations, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia will also participate in the meeting.
