ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said drone attacks are counter-productive and against Pakistan’s sovereignty.

In an interview with Chinese TV channel CCTV‚ he said his government would try to resolve the issue with the United States through diplomatic channels.

He said Pakistan has rendered unprecedented sacrifices in the war against terror and more than forty thousand soldiers and civilians have laid down their lives for the cause.

Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan supports a strong‚ stable and independent Afghanistan.

He said Islamabad encourages dialogue with Taliban to resolve the Afghan conflict and will continue to play its role among stakeholders in this regard.

He said Pakistan will not allow anyone to use its soil for terrorism.

To a question‚ the Prime Minister said his government’s top priority is to revive Pakistan’s sick economy.

He said during his recent visit to China‚ he discussed with the Chinese leadership various projects to generate energy from solar‚ wind and hydro resources to resolve the energy crisis.

To another question‚ Nawaz Sharif again condemned the killing of foreign tourists including the Chinese in the Diamer shooting incident.

He condoled with the bereaved families and expressed sympathies with them.

The Prime Minister said the government will bring the culprits to justice at all costs.
