Nawaz Sharif reiterates resolve to turn Pakistan into Asian tiger

ABBOTTABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed the confidence that the multi-dimensional developmental programmes being undertaken by the incumbent government would turn Pakistan into an Asian tiger.

In his address at a public meeting at Havelian on Saturday to mark foundation stone laying of Rs33 billion Hazara Motorway, the prime minister said that construction of Motorway is a glimpse of the change and prosperity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to Radio Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif said that construction of Hazara Motorway is in fulfillment of the pledges he made during general elections. He said that the Motorway would later be extended to link it with Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad through Margalla Hills.

The prime minister referred to sit-ins and the terminology of ‘New Pakistan’ and said that his government is determined to make a new KPK.

Sharif said that gas shortage would be over following import of liquefied natural gas and gas from Iran. He said that soon a gas pipeline project from Gwadar to Nawab Shah is being launched. In the second phase, gas pipeline would be laid from Iranian border to Gwadar.

The primer said that a quality expressway has been completed from Khunjerab to Raikot and now it would be extended from Raikot to Thakot. He said that the area would also be linked with railway network connecting it with Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and Quetta.

The prime minister said that during his meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, they agreed to extend the Motorway project to Kabul and then onward to Central Asia ushering in a new era of progress and prosperity.

Sharif said that the government would also complete Islamabad-Muzaffarabad railway during its present tenure.

Moreover, he announced establishment of a university in Hazara and said once the gas shortage problem is over, Havelian would get gas on priority.

The prime minister announced that the ground breaking of Karachi-Lahore Motorway would be held next month.
