Nawaz Sharif in Uzbekistan to strengthen bilateral cooperation

ISLAMABAD, Pakistani: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif starts his visit to Uzbekistan and departed from here for Tashkent on a two-day official visit.

He will discuss with Uzbek leadership Afghanistan issue and the regional situation. Pakistan and Uzbekistan will also discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all spheres.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif departs on two-day visit to Uzbekistan

The Prime Minister is accompanied by a high level delegation comprising his Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Advisor on National Security Lt. Gen. (retired) Nasser Khan Janjua and Special Assistant on Aviation Shujaat Azim.

According to Foreign Office, the visit is part of regular high-level exchanges between the two brotherly countries. Pakistan attaches high importance to its deep historical bonds with Central Asia and is committed to expanding mutually-beneficial cooperation with all the countries in the region.

During his stay in Tashkent, the Prime Minister would meet Uzbek President Islam Karimov and discuss different aspects of bilateral relations. The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would land in Uzbek capital of Tashkent, where a historic peace agreement was signed between Pakistan and India on January 10, 1966 bringing an end to 1965 war.
