HONG KONG: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that there is a great scope of trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Hong Kong, and the cooperation between the two Countries must be enhanced in different sectors.

Talking to the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Leu Chen Yung at the Government House in Hong Kong on Wednesday at which they discussed matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations between Pakistan and Hong Kong, the prime minister said that that Pakistan and Hong Kong enjoy brotherly relationship.

The prime minister said that Pakistan has strong business relations with Hong Kong. He said that several companies of Hong Kong have their permanent offices in Pakistan which testifies their trust in Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will enable traders to transport their goods to international markets through Gwadar.

The prime minister said that Pakistan’s liberal trade policies provide ample opportunities to the investors of Hong Kong. He said that the businessmen from Hong Kong must take active part in CPEC which is for the mutual benefits of the two nations.

Welcoming the prime minister, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong said that Pakistan and Hong Kong have strong relations based on history.

The Chief Executive said that the two Countries are cooperating with each other in different sectors. He said that the economic cooperation needs to be enhanced between Pakistan and Hong Kong.

The Federal Minister for Commerce Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan, the Chairman Board of Investment (BOI) Mifta Ismail and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khalid were present during the meeting.

The Chief Executive of Hong Kong was accompanied by the Finance Secretary Hong Kong Paul CHAN mo Po, the Commissioner for Belt and Road Y vonne CHOI Ying Pik and the Secretary Treasury.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
