ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif on Thursday urged the Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang to extend cooperation to Pakistan in civil nuclear technology to overcome energy crisis.

In a meeting held in Islamabad on Thursday morning, both the leader held in-depth discussion on the ways to further strengthen existing bilateral and strategic relationship between the two countries in various fields.

PML-N leaders Mian Shahbaz Sharif‚ Chaurdy Nisar Ali Khan and Senator Ishaq Dar were also present on the occasion.

Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan is facing acute shortage of power and China can help it overcoming through provision of civil nuclear technology. He said Pakistan can also reduce unemployment by overcoming energy crisis.

Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan wants to take advantage of Chinese expertise in the infra-structure development. He said both the countries enjoy long lasting and deep rooted friendship which will be further flourished in the PML-N tenure.

The Chinese Prime Minister congratulated Mian Nawaz Sharif on the success of his party in the general elections and hoped it will help further strengthens democracy in the country.

He invited Nawaz Sharif to visit China at his convenient time.

Later talking to newsmen Nawaz Sharif said that economic and defence relations would further be expanded with China.

He said memorandum of understandings signed during the visit of Chinese Prime Minister will be converted into regular agreements.

He said China has proved to be most trust worthy friend of Pakistan and our internal differences do not affect relations with China.

Nawaz Sharif said that both the countries would continue to work jointly for peace and development in the region.

He said after taking oath he will visit China at the earliest on the invitation of Chinese leadership.

Earlier‚ services chiefs including chairman joint Chiefs of Committee also called on the Chinese Prime Minister and discussed various matters relating to Defence cooperation between the two countries.

Pakistan and China on Wednesday agreed to strengthen their strategic partnership‚ expand economic ties and promote people-to-people contacts after the two sides held wide-ranging.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang met in Islamabad and a luncheon was hosted in the honor of distinguished guests.
